Get Pre-Qualified 

Unless you are paying cash you will need to get pre-approved for a home loan.  Most builders offer in-house financing or have preferred lenders that can help with closing costs. Buyers will need to provide their financial information to include pay check stubs, tax returns/bank statements. 

  

Have a larger down payment saved up in anticipation 

Ideally buyers should have 6-10% of the home price to cover the down payment and lender required escrow money.  Escrow money is money set aside to cover home owners insurance, HOA dues and title fees.
